Precinct Election Officials (P.E.O.s)
General Information
The Lucas County Board of Elections is looking for civic-minded individuals to staff its 312 precincts on Election Day.
Duties include but, are not limited to:
Verifying voter eligibility
Processing voters
The opening and closing of the polling location
Assembling the ExpressVote Tabulator voting machines
Other required Election Day tasks.
Minimum qualifications are:
Must be a registered voter in Lucas County
Must have reliable transportation
Must have a working telephone number
Must have no felony convictions or any violation of the election laws
Must attend a training class
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

POSITIONS:
Voting Location Manager (VLM) - The voting location manager is responsible for the overall polling location operations, to ensure that all Election Day duties are achieved. Duties include but are not limited to:
The opening and closing of the location
Picking up and returning Election Day supplies
Assigning Election Day duties to other Precinct Election Officials
Assisting voters with the voting process.
Location Rover (LR) – The Location Rover assists the VLM with all responsibilities and procedures at the polling place. The Location Rover also assists with the overall flow of the polling location for voters, and assists voters with the voting process.
Precinct Election Official (PEO) - Precinct Election Officials ensure that elections are conducted in a professional, respectable and secure manner. They are required to perform ALL of the duties that the Ohio Secretary of State has mandated, including:
Receive Election Day supplies and ballots.
Opening and closing the polls
Oversee the casting of the ballots during the time the polls are open
Return Election Day supplies
Any other duties as prescribed by the Ohio Secretary of State.
Youth at the Booth
High School students who are 17 years of age and a senior are encouraged to be Precinct Election Officials (Poll Workers) on Election Day.
All of the requirements and procedures mandated for Precinct Election Officials also applies to students.
Minimum qualifications are:
Must be a United States citizen
Must be a resident of Lucas County
Must be at least 17 years of age
Must be enrolled in senior year of high school
Must have reliable transportation
