FINAL STEPS TO CLOSING THE POLLS – Chain of Custody
Voting Location Manager and a Precinct Election Official should verify that ALL tasks have been completed. All items must be accounted for and placed in the proper containers:
· Pencil Box
· Red Bag
· Blue Plastic Folder
· Ballot Box
· Any other items delivered to the polling location
VOTING LOCATION MANAGER CLOSING PROCEDURE
All Master Media Sticks are removed from ExpressVote Machines
Place all Un-Voted Ballots, Stub “A” Envelope, Soiled, Defaced, and/or Damaged Ballots, in the Black Bag and secure with a Red Security Seal.
The VLM should record the total number of Optical Scan Ballots and Provisional Ballots received from each precinct on the Red Bag cover sheet
A Precinct Election Official from the opposite party must sign off on the Chain of Custody Sheet located in the VLM Binder.
Place the Chain of Custody Sheet in Voting Location Manager’s Binder.
Seal Red Bag and record Red Security Seal number on Red Bag cover sheet.
Voting Location Managers in a bipartisan team (representative of each party) must return in the same vehicle with:
ePollbooks – in sealed case
In Clear Plastic Tote - Pencil Box - Red Bag, ExpressVote, Voto Cart Keys, blue plastic envelope
Black Bags – un-voted Optical Scan Ballots
Ballot Box – One per location containing ALL voted Optical Scan Ballots and Voted Ballot Cards
Cart (if, applicable)
BOE Cell Phone – (Please note: if not returned $50 may be deducted from your pay)
